Lievik Atelier in Singapore: Four Editions of Boutiques Singapore

Bringing Indonesian metal craftsmanship to an international design community through curated exhibitions, creative exchange, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
About Boutiques Singapore
Established in 2002 by Charlotte Cain, Boutiques Singapore is a highly curated design fair that has become an established part of Singapore’s independent design scene. Bringing together a considered selection of local and international designers, artisans, and creative brands, the fair spans fashion, jewellery, accessories, homeware, art, and lifestyle. With its emphasis on independent creativity, distinctive design, and thoughtful craftsmanship, Boutiques Singapore offers a platform for creative practices to connect with an audience that values the stories, processes, and ideas behind each creation.
More than a retail exhibition, Boutiques Singapore creates opportunities for meaningful encounters between makers, designers, and visitors. Its carefully curated setting brings different creative disciplines into conversation, fostering an environment for exchanging ideas, building relationships, and discovering new perspectives on contemporary design and craftsmanship.
For Lievik Atelier, participating in Boutiques Singapore has been an opportunity to introduce Indonesian metal craftsmanship to an international audience while connecting with a wider community of independent designers and makers.
Four Editions of Boutiques Singapore
Lievik Atelier has participated in four editions of Boutiques Singapore: Spring Summer 2024, The Gifting Edition 2024, Spring Summer 2025, and The Gifting Edition 2025.
Across these four exhibitions, we shared our approach to blacksmithing, material exploration, and contemporary craft with Singapore’s design community. Rooted in traditional metalworking yet informed by a contemporary design perspective, our practice explores how metal can be shaped into objects that balance function, material character, and artistic expression.
Returning across multiple editions allowed us to build connections over time and engage with a community that appreciates the thought and craftsmanship behind independently made objects. These encounters also opened up possibilities beyond exhibiting our own work, leading to a collaboration with Singapore-based leather goods brand Maverick Made in 2025.

Lievik Atelier × Maverick Made: Metal Meets Leather
The collaboration between Lievik Atelier and Maverick Made brings together two distinct approaches to material and craftsmanship: Lievik Atelier’s Indonesian metalworking practice and Maverick Made’s Singaporean leathercraft.
Rather than treating metal and leather as separate elements, the collaboration explores how their contrasting qualities can complement one another. The strength and permanence of metal meet the warmth and tactility of leather, creating a dialogue between materials through contemporary accessories.
The partnership developed into two product launches across Boutiques Singapore’s 2025 editions.
Spring Summer Edition 2025: Earrings and Necklaces
For the Spring Summer Edition 2025, Lievik Atelier and Maverick Made introduced collaborative earrings and necklaces. The pieces brought metalwork and leathercraft together, exploring the relationship between contrasting materials through wearable forms.
The collaboration reflects a shared interest in craftsmanship and material-led design, allowing each studio’s expertise to contribute to a cohesive contemporary accessory.

The Gifting Edition 2025: Cardholder
For The Gifting Edition 2025, the collaboration continued with a cardholder that brought together leather and metal in a functional everyday object.
Extending the partnership beyond jewellery, the piece explored how the two materials could work together in an object designed for daily use. It also reflected Lievik Atelier’s broader approach to craft: allowing material, technique, and function to inform the final form.

Craftsmanship as a Point of Connection
For Lievik Atelier, these four editions represent more than a series of exhibitions. They reflect the value of sustained participation in a creative community and the possibilities that emerge when makers encounter different disciplines, perspectives, and material traditions.
Our practice draws from Indonesian metalworking heritage while remaining open to experimentation and contemporary interpretations. Through forging, texture, pattern, and structural exploration, we seek to understand metal not simply as a material to be shaped, but as a medium through which ideas and experiences can take form.
Participating in Boutiques Singapore has allowed us to share this approach beyond Indonesia, connect with audiences who appreciate independent design, and develop creative relationships that extend into new work.
We are grateful to Charlotte Cain, the Boutiques Singapore team, Maverick Made, and the wider community of designers and makers who have been part of this journey.
As Lievik Atelier continues to explore the meeting point between tradition and contemporary practice, these experiences remind us that craftsmanship remains alive through exchange, collaboration, and transformation.
